CMP Bench Vintage Military Rifle Match Program

Competition open to: Any eligible competitor. You need not be a member of the NRA, CMP, or the sponsoring club.

Pre-registration required due to limited firing positions. Limited to first 14 people who register.

Fi****ms allowed: M1 Garand, Springfield, or other vintage military rifle (see CMP rules 4.2.2, 4.2.3, 4.2.4, or 4.2.5). Other rifles may be used but will be considered "out of competition".

Entry Fee: $20 per shooter (as many relays as time allows for).
Squading starts: 9:30 am
Firing Starts: 10:00am
End time: 4:00pm

Rules: Current Edition of CMP Games Rifle and Pistol Competition Rules.
Course of Fire: Five (5) Sighting shots and 30 Record shots at 300 yards on the SR-3 target in a time limit of 30 minutes. Firing must be done from a benchrest with a maximum of two sandbag supports and a firing position that complies with CMP Rule 3.3.6. Electronic targets will be use.
Shooting position: Benchrest Supported Position.

Competitors shall fire from benchrests or tables provided by the range. The rifle may be supported with one or two sandbag rests or knelling rolls or other similar supports that may be placed under the rifle fore-end. A rear rest may not be used. The butt-plate is supported by the shoulder. The butt-stock may not rest on the bench or be supported by anything that rests on the bench.

The National Rifle Association is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 NRA Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.), a prestigious, all-expense-paid, six-day leadership and scholarship program for rising high school juniors and seniors. The summit will take place July 21–26, 2026, in Washington, D.C.

For more than 25 years, Y.E.S. has united some of America's brightest, most driven, and patriotic youth for an unforgettable week of education, leadership, and civic engagement. Participants meet with political leaders, tour historic landmarks, and sharpen their skills through debates and public speaking, all while competing for valuable college scholarships.

The mission of Y.E.S. is to inspire students to explore the foundations of American government, the Bill of Rights, and the U.S. Constitution, while encouraging them to return to their communities as active citizens and advocates for the Second Amendment.

Highlights of the 2026 Y.E.S. Program Include:
Meeting with NRA leadership
Practicing marksmanship at the NRA Range
Touring the National Fi****ms Museum
Participating in debates on current issues
Viewing the Constitution and Bill of Rights at the National Archives
Exploring D.C.'s monuments and memorials
Touring the U.S. Capitol Building
Attending the 8th & I Parade
Honoring fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery

How to Apply:
Y.E.S. is open to current high school sophomores and juniors nationwide. Applicants must submit the following:
High school transcript
A three-page essay on the Second Amendment
Personal statement
Three letters of recommendation
A short phone interview

The Howell Gun Club Indoor Range will be open to the PUBLIC on Sundays starting Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 4:00PM. Only pistol caliber ammunition is allowed. No rifle caliber except for .22 and 9mm. No shotgun. Fees: $3 for members and $5 for non-members.
