This is what we picture when folks ask us why we feed our herd instead of just "letting them live off the land". What do our cows have available from nature in this weather?
A little fun fact: When temperatures drop below 20-30*F cattle consume up to 25% more forage (hay) to stay warm. The increased consumption fuels higher metabolic rates using digestion to create internal heat.
High quality forage acts as an "internal furnace" so we are sure to have plenty of good hay on hand before winter arrives!

Happy Cows!

Many Howell residents have become familiar with our cows at "The Blue Barn" as they drive down Oak Glen Rd. The property is being sold to another Howell resident, so our cows have moved to a farm just a half mile away on CR547.
We are excited for the cows to have additional pasture with growth potential to help serve the overwhelming demand for our beef sales. With calves nationwide at record high prices growth will be slow but steady in the future.
We would like to thank Mike and Rose at Oak Glen Farms for our time at their farm and the great exposure it has brought us.

Memorial Day is not just the beginning of summer; it commemorates those who fought for our freedom and made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor and thank them.

I cannot believe I have never made a Brisket before!
We usually order our brisket section as “corned beef” (omg - so yummy!) This year we decided to get A Fresh Brisket (no seasoning packet or brining).
I tried this recipe from and it was to die for! Give it a try!
Easy Oven Roasted BBQ Beef Brisket - House of Nash Eats Slow Roasted Oven BBQ Beef Brisket is so tender and juicy, with a sweet & smokey hickory barbecue sauce, no one will care the meat wasn't smoked for hours!
