I attended my first American Marketing Association Houston luncheon. It was such a fun and inspirational discussion led by the CMO and COO of Meow Wolf. It was interesting to hear how they launched these exhibits in different markets and their learnings from each launch. Excited to hear Houston will have its very own Meow Wolf this year!

I couldn’t let the day end without acknowledging the birthday of Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón. Frida made a lasting impression after I learned of her painstaking life story during a women’s art history course in college.

Frida is considered one of Mexico’s greatest artists. She is known for her realistic depiction of her tragic yet fascinating life, her tumultuous marriage to muralist Diego Rivera and Mexican cultural references proudly woven throughout her art. She has been an inspiration to me for some time and continues to inspire countless others! Viva la Vida!

Ending the year with a few familiar faces! Something about sleep deprivation, critiques, and deadlines creates an indescribable bond with my fellow creatives. It was so fun reminiscing about those endless nights spent in the UH art building, reflecting on where it all began, our career progressions, parenting, and life in general!

This Halloween seemed to have snuck up on me. Nonetheless, I love a good excuse to style our home for the holidays. I kept my costume simple by improvising with what I already had in my closet. A little foam core board and an Exacto knife did the trick! Hoping you have a safe and Happy Halloween!

I wrapped up my projects early and had the rest of the afternoon to unplug. I’ve been wanting to come back to Menil for some time now and today seemed like the perfect opportunity! Being surrounded by great art, sitting on a lush lawn with a good book on this perfect spring day not only serves as inspiration, it allows me to recharge.

What a HELL of a year! 2020 certainly presented its share of challenges for many of us. It made us rethink the way we live. It provided a newfound perspective and gratitude for the everyday moments with our loved ones, for the sacrifices made by our essential workers, and the time to learn and grow. For me, this year allowed me to work with a few startups and devote some time to my personal creative outlet, painting.
