Nearly 1 week until Luck of the Draw: Chaos on Thursday, May 14! 🏆♾️🧡🌀

The evening opens with a DJ set by artist .cyrus, whose expansive practice moves between collage and assemblage, tracing the shifting aesthetic contours of the African diaspora. Cyrus brings a similarly layered sensibility to sound—melding an array of different genres and time periods into an immersive sonic experience. 💥🎶🎚️🎛️

Jamal Cyrus lives and works in Houston, TX. He has won several prestigious awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2023 and the Driskell Prize (High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA) in 2020. The artist’s mid-career survey, The End of My Beginning, opened at the Blaffer Museum of Art in 2021 before continuing to the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and the Mississippi Museum of Art. Cyrus was also a member of the artist collective Otabenga Jones and Associates, active from 2002 to 2017. His work has been exhibited widely at institutions including the Whitney Biennial, Art Basel Miami, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Walker Art Center, and many more.
