Our hearts are heavy.

Our community is carrying grief, fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak. It can feel difficult to talk about celebrations while so many are hurting. At MuXer HTX, we believe that making space for joy does not diminish our pain—it reminds us of what we are fighting to protect: our culture, our families, our stories, and one another.

Art has always been a form of resistance, healing, and hope. It reminds us that even in our darkest moments, beauty can still bloom.

There is an old proverb that says, "They tried to bury us, but they didn't know we were seeds." We carry that truth with us today. We will continue to create, to gather, to lift each other up, and to stand together. Our roots run deep, and our community is stronger than fear.

Happy Birthday to Iris — our VP of MuxerHTX, Boss Lady co-founder of the Frida Festival, co-founder of MuxerHTX Nonprofit organization, festival organizer, talented muralist, gifted ofrenda artist, creative force, and one of the brilliant minds behind our nonprofit. She is the heart behind so much of what we do and the one who helps make every event a success.

She does so much for the Houston art community, always creating opportunities, inspiring others, and giving back with passion and purpose. Wishing you the happiest birthday and a year filled with blessings, joy, and continued success.
