With heavy hearts, Houston Christian University shares the passing of our beloved President, Dr. Robert B. Sloan, Jr., who stepped into eternity early this morning following a sudden health event.

For nearly twenty years, Dr. Sloan led HCU with unwavering faith, vision, and dedication — guiding our University's remarkable growth while remaining steadfast to our Christian mission. His legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of this institution.

We hold First Lady Sue Sloan, their children, and grandchildren close in prayer during this time of profound loss. As Board Chairman Ramiro A. Peña shared, we grieve — but not without hope. Our faith assures us that Dr. Sloan now rests from his labor in the presence of his Savior.

The work of HCU will continue seamlessly, guided by the succession plan Dr. Sloan and the Board established together. Memorial details will be shared with the HCU family and the public as they are finalized, so that all who loved him may honor his life and legacy.
