Pulled out multiple unconventional tools for one of our workouts last week. We warmed up shoulders and core with the steel mace before burning through a few supersets with the kettlebells. Needless to say our shoulders were absolutely toasted after this one. 🔥

One of my favorite things about putting together training sessions is creatively piecing together all of the conventional and unconventional tools at my disposal to work the intended movement archetypes for the day. We did a push/pull day with the barbell and some kettlebell work focused on the chest, back, and triceps. 👊🏻👌🏼💪🏻

You know what they say, “It’s never too early to start getting ready for September”. I got in the gym last night for our first training session for next year’s elk hunt. We’re gonna spend the next 12 months getting him mountain ready so when we walk into the woods in Colorado next year the only thing that’ll stop us is the altitude sickness. 😆😂👊🏻💪🏻

88,420 calories & 857 miles in 60 days!!!😳 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That is just a few of the amazing data points recorded by GoWild member Joel Smith during the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers’ annual Hike to Hunt challenge.
Joel Smith, a Texan hunter and angler, won the competition’s mileage challenge and used his GoWild app for to record rich data from his journey.
Joel was also able to track a considerable amount of data:
•Joel’s average hike was more than 3 hours across 75 total hikes tracked on GoWild.
•He burned 88,420 calories, meaning he earned 589🍺. (Pro tip: We don’t recommend drinking all of those at once, Joel.🍻)
•The total ascent was 3,290 feet. Not too shabby for Texas!
•Speaking of Texas, Joel often hiked in excess of 102º Fahrenheit.🥵 Remember, Joel: Those beers won’t keep you hydrated!
•Joel’s average heart rate was 109 beats per minute, and he maxed out at 182 beats per minute on a few hikes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Team GoWild extends it’s congratulations to Joel. “It’s been fun to watch this story evolve over the last few months,” GoWild Cofounder, CEO, Brad Luttrell added. "I can't wait to see what other stories unfold this year and beyond for Joel.". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While Joel used GoWild’s Garmin integration, any GoWild community member can track a multitude of activities with GoWild’s free iPhone and Android apps. Tracking hunting, fishing, hiking, scouting, archery and more is easy on GoWild. GoWild is not affiliated with BHA.
