On June 9, 2026, the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division with the ex*****on of a search warrant at a residence in the Point Blank area of San Jacinto County.
The investigation began after DPS CID received information alleging that child po*******hy was being viewed and distributed by Gregory Powell. Following an extensive investigation, surveillance operations, and the development of probable cause, investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence.
During the early morning hours of June 9, 2026, members of the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office Operation Lone Star Task Force, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and DPS Criminal Investigations Division executed the search warrant.
During the ex*****on of the warrant, investigators encountered three individuals inside the residence identified as Gregory Powell, Brian Powell, and Kim Bird.
As a result of the search, investigators located suspected methamphetamine in the possession of Brian Powell and Kim Bird. Additionally, investigators discovered multiple electronic devices and viewing platforms allegedly containing child po*******hy. The investigation revealed that both Gregory Powell and Brian Powell were in possession of child po*******hy depicting victims ranging from toddlers to children of undetermined ages.
Investigators also located female child undergarments in the possession of Gregory Powell, which were seized as evidence and are being further examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
All three individuals were taken into custody and charged with offenses related to the evidence discovered during the ex*****on of the search warrant. Additional charges may be filed as the forensic examination of electronic devices and evidence continues.
Sheriff Sam Houston commended the coordinated efforts of the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office Operation Lone Star Task Force, Criminal Investigations Division, and Patrol Division for their work in protecting children and removing dangerous offenders from the community.
This investigation remains active and ongoing.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
