A heartfelt thank you to Hyatt Regency Houston for their incredible partnership with YouthBuild Houston and YouthBuild Global. Through job shadowing experiences and career exploration opportunities, Hyatt Regency has helped our participants gain valuable hands-on experience while opening doors to meaningful careers in the hospitality industry.

We're proud to celebrate this partnership and the participants who have successfully transitioned from job shadowing to employment!

Building strong workforce partnerships starts with meaningful conversations. ⚡

SERJobs recently met with CenterPoint Energy to discuss new partnership opportunities focused on workforce development, training, and career pathways within the utility industry.

During the visit, long-tenured employees from both the Gas and Electric departments shared valuable insight into how their teams recruit, train, and onboard new employees, while also discussing potential pathways to employment for future SERJobs participants.

One of the most meaningful moments of the visit came from hearing the inspiring story of a former SERJobs member who was hired by CenterPoint through our programs. After one year with the company, she continues to thrive and shared her journey and experience through a powerful video testimony. 💙

We are grateful to our board member Eric Cruz for helping facilitate this connection and to the CenterPoint team for welcoming us and investing in conversations that create opportunity for our community.

We are honored to welcome Art Medina and A.P. Merillat as the featured speakers for the 2026 SERJobs Constructing Opportunity Luncheon!

After spending decades incarcerated, Art Medina earned a reputation as one of the worst prisoners in Texas history. Then he met the investigator on his case, A.P. Merillat. During this meeting, it was a single question that transformed Art's life forever!

His story reflects the very heart of SERJobs' mission: empowering individuals to overcome barriers, develop new skills, and create pathways toward meaningful employment and long-term stability.
