The Center for Embodiment
I think this is an important conversation — one I can only approach through a particular lens: the lineage of Krishnamacharya and his students. I name that because it matters. There are many forms of yoga, and most of them have nothing to do with physical postures.
What we encounter in the West largely comes from one thread of a much larger tradition — one shaped significantly by Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. But that thread leaves out entire systems: Ta**ra (in the philosophical sense, not the popular one), pre-classical traditions, and lineages that never organized themselves around Patanjali’s framework at all.
The tapestry is so much broader and more colorful than the narrow piece most of us are handed. My hope is that the next time you step into a yoga class — or wonder whether what you’re doing counts as yoga — you carry that with you. And let it loosen whatever you think you already know.

It’s been a tender few days. And in moments like these I’m truly grateful for my ability to plumb the deepest depths of my emotion through music. Rachmaninoff is an obvious go to. A simple piece, but one of the most beautiful melodies. Enjoy. Hopefully it transports you like it does me
