The Cueva wedding was one filled with so much love, heartfelt emotion, and the sweetest moments!!

As I photograph more weddings, I’ve realized that while I still love creating timeless newlywed portraits, it’s the candid moments in between that have slowly become my favorite.

Those are the moments that can’t be recreated. The ones you don’t plan for. The ones that become even more meaningful as the years go by.

To me, that’s what makes weddings so special. It’s one of the few times in life when all of your favorite people gather in one place to celebrate your love story.

Years from now, I hope your photos don’t just remind you of what your wedding looked like. I hope they remind you of what it felt like. 🤍

I go to UH campus quite often — from going there for undergrad to still finding myself back on campus 3–4 times a week during peak grad season for grad photos. I love every part of it (minus the construction this year, of course 😅).

But about a month ago, I got to be back on campus for a very different reason: to photograph Caitlin and Houston’s wedding day, and it felt so special. 🥹

The two got ready at the Hilton, had their ceremony at the A.D. Bruce Religion Center, and then headed back to one of the hotel ballrooms for cocktail hour and reception. It felt extra special getting to celebrate them at a place that holds so much meaning to Caitlin and her family, and we even got to recreate a photo by the family photo wall at Eric’s in the lobby.

And of course, there was an emo night during the reception, which might have been my favorite part of the day. 🤘🎼🎸

Such a joy to celebrate these two in a place that means so much to both of them. Congratulations, Caitlin and Houston!! 🤍

One of the best things about having a second shooter on your wedding day? Getting more of the moments that matter, all at once 🤍

While I’m focused on one part of the day, my second shooter can be somewhere else capturing another angle, another reaction, or another piece of the story unfolding at the same time — from your groom’s face as you walk down the aisle, to cocktail hour while family photos are happening, to the full scene of your first dance while I’m in close getting all the emotion.

Not every wedding day needs a second shooter, but if you have a bigger guest count, a tighter timeline, or know you care a lot about guest reactions and multiple perspectives, it can make such a big difference in how fully your day is documented ✨
