Roaring Rivers of Grace

As He is, so are we in this world - 1 John 4:17.

"So I'm divine and powerful and a co-creator! Woo hoo!"
Yes, but that's not the point.

* God is not divine to make all bow to him as a God.
* God is not all-powerful to wield dictatorial power over all.
* God is not creator to create billions of minions to live lives of servitude towards Him.
(NOTE: This is all Augustinian, greek mythology inspired thought)

But God is others-centered, self-giving love for the sake of expressing love with, through, and to all... even those who reject Him, deny Him, or hate Him. The cross is the ultimate expression of this truth. (NOTE: True Biblical view of God)

THAT is the point.

As He is, so are WE in this world.

Are we wielding our power swords trying to force others to bow or are we others-centered, self-giving love towards others?

Pause and contemplate.

Imagine how effective it would be if a preacher on a street corner yelled through his bullhorn,

“You’ve already died and gone to hell. You’ve already risen from the dead. You’re already saved. You just don’t know it yet. You’re already accepted and loved! Come give Pappa a hug!”
