This week in history — November 25, 1783 🇺🇸
After seven long years, the last British troops finally left New York City. As their ships sailed away, General George Washington led American forces back into the city—marking the true end of the Revolutionary War.

For New Yorkers, it wasn’t just the end of an occupation—it was the return of freedom. The day became known as Evacuation Day, a lasting symbol of victory and independence.

America stood its ground, fought the empire, and won back its soil. 👊

This week in history, we celebrated Veterans Day. 🇺🇸
What started as Armistice Day in 1919 marked the first anniversary of the end of World War I — when the guns fell silent on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. It was a day set aside to honor those who fought in what was then called “the war to end all wars.”

In 1954, after World War II and the Korean War, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially renamed it Veterans Day — expanding the tribute to honor all who have served in the United States Armed Forces, in war or peace.

Today, Veterans Day stands as a reminder of the courage, duty, and sacrifice of every man and woman who has worn the uniform. We thank them for defending the freedoms we hold dear. 👊🇺🇸
