Update Jan 2026: We are currently evaluating the use of this beautiful sanctuary as it aligns with our Strategic Plan and will share more information when we have it. While we no longer have live bird ambassadors, there are many other ways the Sims Bayou Urban Nature Center can serve bird conservation. In the meantime, please follow Houston Audubon to stay up to date on all of the other birdy happenings around the region, and visit our beautiful Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary - Houston Audubon in west Houston!

Did you know it's International Owl Awareness Day?! The wild Barred Owls that live in the forest at our Raptor and Education Center eat an amazing variety of prey. We have observed them digging up earthworms, snagging caterpillars, cicadas, beetles and preying mantis. Variety is the spice of life!

You can support owls today with an honorary adoption of one of our hardworking owl ambassadors. Each adoption kit contains a beautiful photograph of the owl you choose, a personalized certificate and a fact sheet. Give a Hoot and adopt today at www.houstonaudubon.org/adoptabird
