I've walked into plenty of stunning spaces that don't actually function for the people living in them (gorgeous, but good luck finding anywhere to set your coffee down) ๐Ÿ˜…

Design isn't just what you see on the surface. Everything beautiful in a room should still be doing something.

Even art has a function. It's not just there to look nice; it pulls a room together, anchors the space, and gives your eye somewhere to land.

That's the difference between a pretty room and a room that actually works.

Site visit day, and this one did not disappoint.

If you caught our demo day post, you know this room: bold red walls and a ceiling in need of a full refresh.

Here's where we are now.

The red is gone, replaced by a hand-painted garden mural wallpaper that brings in just the right mix of serenity and drama.

The custom cabinetry is in; we're just waiting on the doors. And when they arrive, they will be worth the wait; brass inset strips throughout, designed to complement the brass ceiling fixture perfectly. I genuinely cannot wait to show you the finished look.

This is one of those projects where every layer adds to the next. ๐ŸŒฟ

More to come as this one wraps up.

There's a difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator, and it matters more than most people realize.

The title "Registered Interior Designer" isn't just a credential. It's a standard.

To earn it, you must complete a formal degree in interior design, accumulate years of documented work experience in the field, and pass the NCIDQ exam, one of the most rigorous professional exams in the design industry. You can't just decide to take it. You have to earn the right to sit for it first.

Registered designers are also governed by TBAE (Texas Board of Architectural Examiners), a state-sanctioned regulatory body. That means weโ€™re held to a professional standard, required to take continuing education courses, and held to real accountability. A client can report you, and your license can be reviewed or removed.

Decorators don't operate under the same framework. That's not a criticism; it's just a distinction worth understanding when you're making decisions about your home.

What it means for you: When you hire a Registered Interior Designer, you're not just getting someone with good taste. You're getting someone with the education, the examination record, and the professional accountability to back it up.
