Guardian Grounds Ranch family,

Meet Cora!

Cora has cerebral palsy and needs new leg braces to help her walk, move, and grow with more comfort and confidence.

Her dad is a third-generation firefighter, and now this first responder family needs our community behind them.

Every dollar helps. Every share matters. We are looking to raise enough money to cover her new leg braces!

Let’s rally around Cora and help her take her next steps. ❤️

Today we pause. We remember. We honor.

Memorial Day isn't a long weekend, it's a debt we owe.

To every service member who gave everything so the rest of us could keep going — we see you. We remember you. We don't take the freedom to live our normal lives for granted.

At Guardian Grounds Ranch, this day hits different. We exist because of people like them. Veterans and first responders who suited up, showed up, and carried weight most of us will never fully understand. Some came home changed. Some didn't come home at all.

Our mission is to be here for those who did and to honor the legacy of those who didn't.

Rest easy to the fallen. And to those still standing — we've got you.

FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS ON THE FRONT LINES

If you're a first responder or municipal employee quietly struggling with alcohol or substance use, this post is for you. Importantly, if you supervise anyone, you need this information, too.

Many of us have heard "zero tolerance" used to describe our agency's drug and alcohol policies. And while that sounds absolute, the reality may be more nuanced than your HR department lets on.

First, a disclaimer: ⚠️ Not legal advice. Guardian Grounds Ranch is not a law firm and does not provide legal counsel. All information is for educational and awareness purposes only. Every situation is unique, please consult a licensed employment attorney for advice specific to your circumstances.

Here's what you may not know:

✅ Federal law (the ADA) recognizes alcoholism as a protected disability in many circumstances
✅ Substance abuse treatment CAN/MAY qualify as protected FMLA leave
✅ Many agency policies explicitly allow for self-referral before an incident ever occurs
✅ You have rights — but only if you act BEFORE something goes wrong

The worst thing you can do is wait until after a positive test or a critical incident to ask for help. By then, your options narrow dramatically.

Guardian Grounds Ranch exists to help heroes like you find a path forward, OUTSIDE of your chain of command, ANONYMOUSLY, and with zero judgment.

We're not lawyers. We're not HR. We're fellow warriors who believe in protecting the job and the person wearing the badge. Protect yourself, protect your employees. Please don't hesitate to rely on us to help you out by meeting you right where you're at.

👉 Reach out at guardiangrounds.org — your battle buddy is waiting.
