Let us pray on this holy Ash Wednesday.

Holy God,

Today, in humility and gratitude,
We honor the gift of life and love in You,
remembering the way of Jesus,
who came to teach us to honor You
and each other
and to strive to be at one with Spirit.

As we reflect on our humanness,
We are in gratitude of the minerals and elements
of the earth
and the cosmos
of which our bodies are made.
In humility, we accept our physical reality,
ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

We are thankful for Mother Earth feeding and nourishing us
sustaining our life, day by day.

We are in awe of the breath of life,
and the Spirit within us,
calling us to greater and greater heights of love and awareness.

Open our hearts to an even deeper love of Jesus Christ,
who guides us into the depths of love’s mystery
that go beyond our human capacity,
showing us the Way to true life in You.

Lead us into a Holy Lent.
Help us to shed all that remains as obstacles
to be the Love
we were born to become.
