The specification established for validating the repair included remediation of pipeline wall deterioration (losses of up to 80%) caused by external hashtag . Severe corrosion was identified in this six vent stacks, during an inspection in an oil refinery. The vents are scheduled to be decommissioned in two years but until then a solution was needed.

was asked to provide an option for a permanent repair that could be completed without hot work or interruption of operation.

With varying degrees of corrosive damage, thin wall thickness, and challenging location access, CSNRI’s engineering team recommended MT to repair structural integrity of the vent stacks and extend service life, ensuring the plant would be operational past the intended decommissioning date.

The repair was completed in 2 days without interruption to facility operations and in accordance with ISO24817 standard Type-B analysis. The lines are fully operational, and the repairs are expected to provide the required integrity until retirement date of the system.
