This year, the theme of World Mental Health Day is Mental Health in the Workplace.
Employed adults spend more time working than any other activity during their waking hours.
Work can provide a livelihood and be a source of meaning, purpose, and joy. However, for too many people, work is stressful, and can detract from our mental health and well-being in ways that result in excessive distress and mental ill health.
As we posted during this week last year, the connection between acid reflux and anxiety or depression is complex and often bidirectional. So if you have one, be sure to watch out for the other and take care of yourself ❤️

The pHoenix score improves the distinction between normal and pathological cases and reduces ambiguity, offering an alternative approach to diagnosing GERD that addresses the limitations of using total acid exposure time or the DeMeester Score.
After recognizing that the standard threshold of pH 4 was not sensitive enough to detect reflux in the oropharynx, we introduced a new scoring system for pharyngeal pH testing called the RYAN Score in 2009. Then we further refined our a quantitative scoring system specifically for ENT populations, resulting in the Sataloff Score (2021).
We applaud ongoing efforts to enhance diagnostic scoring systems, ensuring more precise results and better treatment decisions for patients!
