🥳 NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT! 🥳
Welcoming and introducing Angel Oloshove to the Hooks-Epstein Galleries fam! Angel Oloshove is a ceramic sculptor whose work transcends the boundaries of functionality and delves into the realm of emotional expression.
Her journey began with studying painting at the California College of the Arts, followed by a unique 6-year period in Tokyo working in graphic design and toy development.
These diverse experiences fueled her artistic vision, shaping her signature style that blends painterly glazes with organic forms to evoke transcendental experiences.
Oloshove navigates the worlds of fine art and functional design. Her sculptural ceramics have garnered critical acclaim, with exhibitions like “Floating Worlds” receiving recognition as a Critic’s Pick in ArtForum magazine. Simultaneously, in 2015, her functional pottery line prompted AnOther Magazine to name her one of the “Ten Modern Ceramists Shaping the Future”, highlighting her impact on the contemporary ceramic scene.
In the summer of 2024, she was one of two ceramic artists to represent America in the Milan-based Officine Saffi Award for contemporary ceramics. Permanent collections include MD Anderson, the City of Houston’s Civic Art Collection, and Meow Wolf Houston. Her artist book “Spontaneous Presence”, is in the library collection of SFMOMA.
New works by Angel Oloshove is now available and on view at the gallery!
