Wells Fargo Phishing

Hey everyone. I’m hoping you can help me out with some advice. My elderly father fell victim to a fake text from “Wells Fargo” where they claimed a purchase was made and asked him to confirm or deny it, in which he responded to. Then they said they needed his password to shut down his account from further fraud, which he gave them. His entire savings is now gone.

He spoke to Wells Fargo and they said because he gave away his password that there isn’t anything they can do and they’re sorry.

I have been searching Reddit, WF website, and the internet in general to see if there is any way he can make a claim for a scam to get his money back since he didn’t explicitly give permission to transfer the money.

I saw a few people mention filing a claim with the OCC and the CFPB. Any other advice would be very much so appreciated.

I know it goes without saying, but please be kind. Most of us could easily recognize this as a scam, but he innocently did not and I’m just trying to help him. I just want to rectify the situation as best as I can. Thank you again.
