Miss Chinatown Houston Pageant

Next up: our Second Princess, the lovely Jessica Ji .b.ji

📗 Jessica is a rising sophomore at Rice University studying Biosciences and a pre-medical student.

🩺 Throughout the past year, she’s gotten deeply involved in cancer research. She’s volunteering full-time at Baylor College of Medicine this summer to target therapy resistance and cancer recurrence. She’s learning so many new things every day, and this research has truly deepened her motivation to pursue a career in medicine.

👑 Looking back at her first year at Rice, she’s seen that the pageant has benefited me in many unique and wonderful ways. In particular, she’s become a lot more sociable and willing to embrace new challenges! She joined a hip-hop dance team called Rice Kasama, which is super different from the ballet and traditional Chinese dancing she’s used to.

🎀 Miss Chinatown Houston has also helped her develop greater awareness of the needs within her community, and she’s become engaged in addressing them. She love interacting with elderly citizens at memory-care facilities near Rice and helping them feel less alone.
