Change Happens CDC

This month, we remember Mayor Sylvester Turner, a visionary leader whose passion for affordable housing made a profound impact on Houston. Through his dedication and compassion, he helped over 25,000 people find stable homes, reducing homelessness by 64% and striving to make chronic homelessness “rare and brief.” His tireless efforts led to lasting change; Change Happens CDC was grateful for the opportunity to partner with his administration on initiatives that improved countless lives.

During his term, Mayor Turner led Houston through Hurricane Harvey. In the storm’s wake, Mayor Turner along with Change Happens CDC has helped to build a stronger city; we were able to open The Citadel a $28 million, 74-unit affordable housing complex for seniors in Third Ward.

Mayor Turner’s remarkable legacy lives on in the affordable housing he helped create and the city he helped shape. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones and to every Houstonian whose life was touched by his leadership
