Golden Crunchies - Golden Oats biscuits dipped in Chocolate 🍫 🍫🍫
Crunchy, chewy, buttery… and finished with a silky chocolate layer – these are dangerously moreish!
There’s something about a proper homemade oat biscuit that just feels like a warm hug… and when you add a smooth chocolate base? Game over.
I made a batch, why?
Because it's eggless and so good it will add a smile to even the most miserable people!
Ingredients
Biscuits:
100g unsalted butter (softened)
100g light brown soft sugar
50g golden syrup
125g rolled oats
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
½ tsp sea salt
150g wholemeal plain flour
Chocolate Topping:
100g milk chocolate (melted)
👩🍳 Make it
Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan) and line 2–3 baking trays with parchment paper.
In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and golden syrup until smooth and well combined.
Add the oats, bicarbonate of soda, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Scoop heaped tablespoons of dough (about a 4cm scoop), roll into balls, and place onto your prepared trays.
Gently press each ball down halfway to flatten slightly.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown around the edges.
Leave the biscuits to cool completely on the trays – they’ll firm up as they cool.
Once cooled, melt the chocolate and spread about a teaspoon onto the base of each biscuit, smoothing to the edges.
Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or pop them in the fridge for quicker results.
💡 Tips from the Lekker Kitchen
Want extra crunch? Bake a minute or two longer.
Prefer chewy? Take them out slightly earlier.
Add a sprinkle of sea salt on the chocolate for a gourmet twist 👌
