CeraVe and its parent company, L'Oréal, are facing multiple lawsuits after independent testing raised concerns about benzene contamination in certain benzoyl peroxide acne products.

If you're not familiar with benzene, it's a known carcinogen that has been linked to blood cancers at certain levels of exposure. The concern isn't that benzene was intentionally added to these products, but that benzoyl peroxide may break down into benzene over time, especially when exposed to higher temperatures during storage or transport.

This is exactly why I believe ingredient safety shouldn't stop at what's listed on the label. An ingredient can look perfectly fine on paper, but we also need to understand how stable it is inside the bottle and what it can turn into over time.

For now, this is still an ongoing legal case, but it's definitely one worth keeping an eye on. As consumers, we deserve transparency and products that have been thoroughly tested for both safety and stability.
