Thank you so much to For Fork's Sake for their amazing review of our cochinita pibil! We love sharing our Yucatán favorites with Houston foodies 😋

This past weekend, I had lunch with a friend at Merida Restaurant in Houston. I hadn't been there in ages! Their offerings include dishes from the Yucatan Peninsula (Merida is the capital of the state of Yucatan in Mexico). Of course, when I saw cochinita pibil on the menu, I HAD to order it. Not many restaurants offer this divine dish and even fewer can do it justice.

It was a flavor explosion in my mouth...I could taste the beautiful spices, including the cinnamon which to me, only enhanced everything. I don't usually order flour tortillas but I did at Merida, because they are handmade. They're thicker than the usual found at a Tex-Mex restaurant.

Other restaurants where I've found fantastic cochinita pibil:
Sazón in Austin, TX owned and operated by my friend and his wife.

AND special shout out to the cochinita pibil man on Isla Mujeres! 🤩 It's an adventure to drive around the island and find him selling at a gas station...because you saw the line of people on the street.
