We spent 4 days on this trip in June 2024, and it’s still one of the most memorable adventures I’ve had.

▫️Day 1:
Rent a car and drive to Big Bend National Park. We drove 8 hours from Houston and I’d never skip that part — the only way to really see Texas is by driving through it. Checked in at the coziest A-frame hotel

▫️Day 2:
Early wake-up for the Lost Mine Trail — easily one of the most scenic hikes I’ve done. The views are unreal. At the very top, we had a close bear encounter and we were trapped between the bear and the cliff. Scary af, but apparently very common on this trail, so… be aware.

Quick lunch after the hike, then drive to Marfa for dinner and cocktails. About an hour away from BB and it’s such a gem in the middle of the desert. Don’t skip the Prada installation and stop for a drink at
Try to catch The Marfa Lights on the way back.

▫️Day 3:
Another scenic hike — Santa Elena Canyon Trail.
Then drive to for the juiciest steak of your life. The territory is huge, you can look at the animals and walk around - definitely worth a stop. After that, head to New Mexico. Visit Old Mesilla historic town, walk around, and have a drink or two at local bars. Stay at Airbnb in Las Cruces near White Sands.

▫️Day 4:
White Sands National Park. Don’t forget to grab a sled. Unreal views. Still can’t believe this place is real.
Drive to Midland, TX, return the car, and catch a quick flight home.

1,5 years ago I had one of best road trips in my life💛🌵
Yes, in Texas. Wildly underrated destination.

I still can’t believe we saw all that in just 4 days. It was intense and absolutely mind blowing. Side quests were just happening with us naturally and hikes and views were stunning! It was a dream road trip with a dream team. I felt like I’m on a different planet, so unreal.

Safe this for later, because I’m convinced it’s the best itinerary you could have:

Day 1: Road trip to Big Bend National Park, stay at
Day 2: Lost Mine Trail (be aware of the bears and mountain lions) and Marfa,TX
Day 3: Santa Elena Canyon Trail and Old Mesilla,NM
Day 4: White Sands National Park, flight home

Would you go?
