I’ve seen so many DIY videos about wall molding online, but I’ve found some of most common mistakes that people make⚠️

❎Skipping primer. Always apply paint primer before caulking. This helps prevent raw wood from absorbing moisture from caulk and reducing risk of cracking and peeling over time.

❎Using spackle instead of wood filler. Wood filler moves with the wood. Wood expands and contracts with humidity and temperature. Wood filler is designed to flex slightly with this movement. Spackle is rigid and can crack or pop out over time.

❎Only use hand saw no miter shear. It’s difficult to make super clean cut if you only use a hand saw. Starting a cut with a miter shear helps to get a perfectly clean cut. If your molding is thin, you can only use miter shear.
