Patrick Oathout is worthy of your consideration. Excellent candidate.
Patrick Oathout, a gay candidate with deep roots in District C, is seeking the open Houston City Council seat in the upcoming special election. The Houston native says his experiences growing up in the district and coming out as a teenager shaped his commitment to inclusive leadership. If elected, he would become the third openly LGBTQ member of the City Council. Link in comments.

U.S. Rep. Al Green was removed from the House Chamber just minutes into President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech to Congress — the second year in a row the Houston Democrat was ejected.
As Trump began his speech, Green held up an apparently hand-written sign reading "Black people aren't apes!" He was swiftly escorted out of the chamber.
In an interview outside the House chamber, Green said he didn't think the president had "really received the message" about a video he posted on social media earlier this month that portrayed former President Barack Obama and the former first lady Michelle Obama as apes.
"He seems to think he can do these dastardly things with impunity," Green said. "Tonight I wanted to have a person confront him and let him know that black people aren't apes, that black people aren't going to tolerate this sort of behavior."
