The Easy Artist Box

At Hearts and Hands Holiday Market today and tomorrow sharing our love for creating! This is our first in-person market and it's so fun to talk to people about the process - from laser cutting and etching to painting and assembling! One thing is weighing on my mind though: I keep hearing people say "I'm not crafty", "I wish I was this creative" etc...and it breaks my heart! Don't get me wrong, I'll paint for others all day long 😊 but you are crafty and creative, every single one of you 💛 I get that not everyone enjoys doing it like I do, but if you're someone who has ever said you wish you were crafty, I have a box with your name on it waiting to prove you ARE! With the right tools and nudge in the right direction you can create signs like this! This is why I ask subscribers to share their finished pieces-your creativity might just inspire someone else to give it a try and turn their wishes into confidence 💛💛

Whew! I'm very used to painting one thing at a time, maybe a couple things a week...so knocking out several in a weekend was a lot harder than I thought! I've also been practicing a lot to paint items that are not layered pieces - can you spy the one I just finished with free-hand painting?!

I love the dimensional pieces for their simplicity and perfect lines. I love that everyone can do them and they'll look great no matter your skill level...but also the more you do them and learn new techniques for shading and adding character, the better they look! I love seeing people kinda nervous and unsure when they start and then all smiles when they see their finished work! Seriously fills my heart!

Nonetheless, I wanted something that really challenged me to learn more and try new things; these non-dimensional pieces have done just that! It is time consuming, but the results are so worth it! Just look at that turkey 😍. There just aren't enough hours in the day to paint alllll the things I want!

Wishing Claire the happiest 6th Birthday! We had so much fun celebrating and painting this morning! 😊 She was so excited to get to play with glitter when we made her custom "guest book" shaker sign. These "shaker" projects are a favorite for little girls-they get to pick sequins and glitter to go inside and then it all gets contained inside the "shaker" part so no glitter mess afterwards! Then guests sign it and it's a cute memento! ✨✨

I struggled with this custom request for a surf themed party...I must have designed eight different surf signs and I honestly wasn't 100% sure about this one, but it did not disappoint! Absolutely love how it turned out and reminds me that I need to follow my own advice and trust the process!
