Both grief and growth require stepping out of your comfort zone. Both require next level faith. Going through tough times is hard and often pushes us out of our comfort zones. It's like stepping into a really cold pool – shocking at first, but you gradually get used to it. This is similar to dealing with big changes or losses in our lives. It feels overwhelming and scary, and it's something you don't feel prepared for. But just like taking that first step into the pool requires a bit of bravery, so does facing our hardships. When life throws us curveballs, it feels like being stuck in a bad storm. Everything's a mess, and it's hard to see any good coming out of it. But, believe it or not, it's during these tough times that we actually grow the most. We learn a lot about ourselves, like how strong we really are or how to tackle problems better in the future.Deciding to face our problems head-on is like deciding to jump off a high dive. It's terrifying thinking about the jump, but once you do it, you realize it wasn't as bad as you thought, and you feel proud for having the guts to try. Growth is calling us to take that jump, to believe that things will get better, and to understand that every challenge is a step towards becoming a better version of ourselves.Remember, everyone goes through rough patches, so you're not alone. These experiences make us more connected to others and remind us that it's okay to be vulnerable and ask for help. Sure, the road ahead might look foggy, but there are moments of beauty and strength along the way that make the journey worth it.In simple terms, both the hard times and the process of getting through them teach us that after something bad happens, there's always a chance for something good to come out of it. We learn to stand up after we fall and find that we're a little bit stronger each time. So, let's keep our heads up and move forward, knowing that with a little courage and a lot of faith, we can get through anything and maybe even come out better on the other side.

This letter is a reminder to myself, a reflection of my journey as a caregiver and a pledge to myself for the coming year and beyond.
I have dedicated so much of myself to caring for others, putting their needs, health, and well-being above my own. My selflessness is admirable, but it's time to recognize that I, too, deserve that same level of care and attention.
I remember all the times I’ve made sure others were their best selves, taken their medications, dressed well, eaten properly, and felt empowered, I often neglected my own needs. So many hospitalizations, personal care set aside, opportunities forgone – it's time to acknowledge that these sacrifices have come at a cost to your own well-being.
In 2024, I promise myself : to love myself first. Show up for myself every day, treat myself with the same kindness and dedication I ‘ve shown others. I am being intentional in what I take on, careful not to overwhelm myself . Setting boundaries and standing by them, regardless of others' actions or expectations.
I will seek out things that make me happy and recognize my own value. It's time to love Rachelle the way she always deserved to be loved.
I will forgive myself for the times I ‘ve fallen short, for the moments I’ve hurt myself or allowed others to hurt me. I am human, and it's okay to make mistakes. Learn from them, grow from them, but don't let them define me.
As I move forward, I will remember the words of Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." this will be my mantra as I embark on this journey of self-love and self-care.
I am worthy…Worthy of love, care, and happiness. It's time to prioritize myself and embrace the joy and peace I’ve always deserved.
With love and empowerment,
Rachelle
