What you eat every day can play a bigger role in your health than you might think đĽ
While no single food can prevent disease, many everyday choices can help support your immune system, heart health, and overall wellness. Colorful fruits and vegetables like berries and leafy greens are rich in antioxidants that help protect your bodyâs cells. Healthy fats from foods like salmon, walnuts, and avocados support heart health and help manage inflammation. Whole grains and plant-based proteins, such as oats, beans, and lentils, provide fiber that supports digestion and steady energy throughout the day.
Even small additionsâlike using garlic or turmeric when cooking, or adding yogurt or fermented foodsâcan support gut health, which plays an important role in immunity and overall well-being đż
The key isnât perfection. Itâs consistency. Making simple, realistic changes over time can help you feel better and stay healthier in the long run.
Of course, good nutrition is just one piece of the puzzle. Having the right health insurance coverage helps ensure you can access preventive care, routine checkups, and support when you need it most.

Whatâs the Difference Between a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit and an Annual Physical?
If youâre on Medicare, donât let the terms fool youâan Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) and a traditional physical exam are not the same thing.
đ Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) â Covered by Medicare Part B
This visit is focused on prevention and future planning. It includes:
âď¸ Reviewing your medical and family history
âď¸ Checking your height, weight, blood pressure, and BMI
âď¸ Cognitive screenings and fall risk assessment
âď¸ Personalized screening and wellness plan
â No hands-on physical exam or lab work is included.
đŤ Annual Physical Exam â NOT covered by Medicare
This is the full head-to-toe check-up you might be used to, including:
đŹ Blood tests and lab work
𩺠Listening to heart and lungs
đ Updating vaccines
âď¸ Checking reflexes and screening for new medical conditions
Since Medicare doesn't cover physicals, scheduling one could lead to out-of-pocket costsâespecially if extra tests are involved.
đ
Medicare covers one Annual Wellness Visit every 12 months, starting 12 months after your Part B coverage begins.
â
Tip: When you make your appointment, confirm with your doctorâs office that it will be billed as a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit.

Healthcare from Home: How Telehealth Empowers Medicare Beneficiaries
Did you know that as a Medicare beneficiary, you may have access to virtual doctor visits, mental health care, and chronic condition managementâall from the comfort of your home?
Thanks to changes in Medicare coverage in recent years, telehealth is now more accessible than ever, especially for seniors and individuals with mobility or transportation challenges.
Hereâs what you can do with telehealth under Medicare:
â
Talk to your doctor or specialist from your living room via phone or video.
â
Manage chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease with virtual check-ins and medication reviews.
â
Access mental health services, including therapy and psychiatric evaluations, with expanded coverage under Medicare Part B.
â
Save time and moneyâno more long drives, parking headaches, or waiting room delays.
Whether you live in a rural area or simply prefer the convenience of care at home, telehealth gives you more control over your healthcare experience.
đĄ Look for platforms that are easy to use, protect your privacy, and help coordinate prescriptions or specialist referrals.
đ Have questions about what telehealth options are available to you? Ask you insurance provider and/or your doctor.

Whenâs the Right Time to Buy Long-Term Care Insurance?
No one wants to think about needing help with everyday tasks like bathing or getting dressedâbut the truth is, many of us will face that reality someday. The big question is: When should you buy long-term care insurance?
Buy too early, and you could pay for decades before using it. Wait too long, and you risk higher premiumsâor being declined for coverage altogether.
Hereâs a quick look at annual premiums for a basic policy (Genworth 2023):
đ¤ Age 55: $2,004
đ¤ Age 65: $2,846
đ¤ Age 75: $9,603
đ Thatâs why your 50s or early 60s are often the sweet spotâbalancing affordability with smart planning.
đ Long-term care insurance can help cover costs that Medicare doesnât, like:
⢠In-home care
⢠Assisted living
⢠Nursing homes
⢠Adult day care
⢠Home safety modifications
⢠Care coordination services
Before you shop, know the key terms:
đš Benefit Triggers â When the policy kicks in (like needing help with daily activities)
đš Inflation Protection â Helps your benefit keep up with rising care costs
đš Elimination Period â How long you wait before benefits begin (longer = lower premium)
đŹ The bottom line? Buying coverage isnât about fearâitâs about control. Itâs a way to protect your savings, your independence, and your familyâs peace of mind.
If youâre wondering whether nowâs the right time to look into long-term care insurance, letâs chat. No pressureâjust clear answers and smart guidance.
