Happy Black History Month!

I am Black History today and every day. I heard from a friend that her kid was told by another kid at school that Black History doesn’t exist. The kid that made that statement also stated that he was opting out of Black History lessons.

OK kid. Go right ahead and insist on being uninformed. When you don’t know history, it repeats itself (we’re experiencing that right now, but I digress.) Because whether someone recognizes it or not, Black History exists. It doesn’t need validation or acceptance. It’s truth. And the people teaching otherwise we hear you. We feel you shaking in your boots because you know it exists too. You know firsthand of it’s power and it’s eternal, divine presence. What you may not know is that you can try your best to bury it, mismanage it, and erase it. However, even in the face of evil it will always rise.
