Somehow I have landed on the side of the clock app where people rail on cyclists. I saw a post from a driver who was in an accident and a cyclist stopped to let her know that she shouldn’t have her car in the bike lane. Yeah, that cyclist was being obtuse, silly, and not reading the situation. But hear me out, I have a bit of an explanation. I have had to slam on the brakes twice *this week alone* for drivers who weren’t looking. I was hit by a car a few years ago. Cyclists are protective of our space because we don’t know which cars or people are going to be paying attention, and we know there are a lot of people who don’t think we should exist on the same roads. So yeah, we’re not always our best version of ourselves, but can you blame us?
Happy Litha! Today is a great day to reflect and internalize the joy and abundance of summer. While there are plenty more sunny, flowery, weeks to come, I will strive to bring this energy with me as we move towards the darker half of the year.
