There is a big difference between some of the “National Reciprocity” schemes that have been proposed and true “National Right to Carry”. Trump has no reliable Pro-2A positions of his own, but his recent comments in PA have got people talking about his issue again.
If YOU are interested in seeing real progress in this area, the Bill to support is Senator Mike Lee’s “National Constitutional Carry Act”. If signed into law, it would basically abolish State level permits all together. As in: “The Second Amendment is my permit!”.
The recent Newsweek article is slanted in the predictable way, but it does a decent job of laying out the effects of potential legal changes.

People have used or heard of the phrase “gun show loophole,” which has led to the mistaken idea that gun shows are not regulated. ❌
This wording grew out of political debates and media discussions about private sales at gun shows.
Over time, it has been repeated so often that many people now assume gun shows operate outside existing laws.
This confusion usually comes from not understanding how licensed dealers operate at shows and how background checks work.
To help combat misinformation, we rounded up these fast facts, which include who must run background checks, what the law says about unlicensed sales, and how criminals actually obtain fi****ms.

I’m seeing a surprising amount of handwringing and pearl clutching over this… quite often by people I know to consume alcohol and who don’t think twice about the tens of millions of gun owners who manage to responsibly separate their gun ownership from their drinking. 🙄
Freedom isn’t Safe…. Freedom involves risk and mitigating those risks is part of being responsible. Freedom is good. Be responsible.

Millions of Americans living in States that have legalized the recreational use of ma*****na have had to play “choose your freedom” in regard to their gun ownership for many years now.
This Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that being a recreational drug user should not in an of itself prohibit one from also being a gun owner. (Link in comments)
Obviously, one should be carrying/using their fi****ms while under the influence of any drug or alcohol… legal or illegal, OTC or prescription. That’s an issue of personal responsibility.
The recently updated form 4473 may need to be changed again in light of this ruling. The Federal Government has recently relaxed its position on the difference between occasional recreational use and being “addicted” to an illegal drug, but the administration fought against this SCOTUS Ruling.
Stay tuned… and share your thoughts in the comments.
