Some mornings ask nothing from us except that we slow down.

When I arrived, the clouds still held the weight of the storm. Then, almost without warning, the sky opened. A rainbow stretched across the bay, the mountains caught the first light, and for a few quiet moments everything felt perfectly balanced.

Photographs like this can never be planned. They are gifts, brief reminders that beauty often arrives after uncertainty.

I created this image to remind us that no matter how heavy the clouds become, light always finds a way back.

December 2023 changed my life forever.

Just hours after finishing my Holiday Art Show at the Blaisdell, I went into heart failure.

Over the past 2½ years, I’ve faced countless appointments, uncertainty, heart palpitations, and the reality of living with a weakened heart. On June 24, I received an ICD—a defibrillator implanted to help protect my heart.

This isn’t the first battle I’ve faced. I fought cancer twice as a child, and now life has placed another mountain before me.

But through every storm, God has never left my side.

I’ve learned that courage isn’t about avoiding life’s challenges—it’s about continuing to move forward despite them. My diagnosis may be part of my story, but it will never define who I am.

There are still photographs waiting to be captured, places to explore, memories to make with my family, and so much beauty left to witness.

To anyone facing a battle of your own: we may not choose the cards we’re dealt, but we can choose how we respond.

So I’ll keep chasing the light. I’ll keep creating. I’ll keep believing that God’s greatest blessings often come after our hardest seasons.

This isn’t the end of my story. It’s the beginning of a new chapter.
