The Hawaiʻi State Legislature has officially passed the state budget on final reading in both chambers, helping move the future East Kapolei Elementary School one step closer to reality.
As more families continue putting down roots in West Oʻahu, this investment reflects a clear commitment to creating the space, resources, and opportunities our keiki need to thrive. The project will also help address overcrowding at ʻEwa Elementary following recent redistricting efforts, ensuring students and families have better support for generations to come.
Project plans have been completed and are currently moving through the permitting process with the City & County of Honolulu. With the budget now approved, the project can continue progressing toward construction, with a target opening in School Year 2029–2030.
Mahalo nui to Ways and Means Chair Donovan M. Dela Cruz and Vice Chair Sharon Y. Moriwaki for their leadership and continued commitment to investing in our communities and future generations. Together, we continue building a stronger future for West Oʻahu families and our keiki.
