I remember in the 80s many Japanese cars had an easy way to remove the evaporator from below the glove box. Yes, mechanics make money doing this ugly ridiculous mess of a job but the customer has to pay the bill. I am sure car manufacturers could still design cars so the evaporator could be done the old way. But capitalism is indeed a menace. They don't care. I have seen many mechanics that do this difficult jobs every day and still make mistakes requiring them to waste so much time doing it all over again. Since Iam my own boss I reject this kind of work and to save customers a lot of money I seal the evaporator. The sealer works 90 to 95 percent of the time. And the cost is very low.
