Guatemala has taken me by surprise.

Today we drove past a valley at least the size of the Redland Agricultural Area where Tiny Farm grows, possibly much larger, with small human scale plots stretching as far as the eye could see.

Lettuce, brassicas, carrots, herbs, and many other vegetables growing in rich volcanic soil, much of it if not all, cultivated by hand.

I’ve visited farms all over, but I’ve never seen anything quite like this concentration of diversified human scale food production.

Definitely making it a point to come back and spend time with these growers. There’s a lot to learn here, especially on the supply chain and distribution areas.

And just like that our first flush of mulberries is over. We should see a second flush once it starts raining later in the summer. All good things must come to an end only to start again at some point in the future.
