So who is this Hot Mess Fix Chick? My name is Jennilyn and I’ve been a lover of admin and travel most of my adult life. When we hit the road in our RV in 2020, my husband and I had driven across the country four times, so living in an RV just made sense as a living situation. I had had different admin roles throughout my career and for a while I didn’t love admin work, I wanted to do the fun, creative work! But after our income took a major hit (and our spending took a big leap up), I realized I needed to get back into it. Since deciding to get back in, I’ve worked with a number of amazing business owners across the country and even talked about my journey on the RV Entrepreneur podcast. Business owners are really impressive people. You have to be creative, consistent, have a tough skin, and just the ability to keep going. You’re able to do all the things in your business, obviously, YOU built it! You know all the ins and outs of your business. You know all the steps to get it done. But, unless you’re running an admin business, I’m guessing you’re not the best at your admin. My client Naomi, who has a band and runs a dance membership, said this about the work we’ve done together, she’s been able to “delegate what drags me down, and count on someone to stay on top of things. With her taking care of the admin details for my band and my dance membership, I can focus more on what I love doing: singing and teaching dance.”

Having someone help with your admin can be an affordable way to free up more time and allow you to spend more time doing what you love.

Today is Veteran’s Day and one of my favorite holidays. It is because of the Marines that I met my husband and today is one of those days that I can celebrate him....and find him some great freebies! I’m very much the planner in our household and planning for Veteran’s Day this year was super fun because we’re in Orlando, which has a TON of places that offer things for Veteran’s Day. So while I’m working, Bret is out going down the list of freebies I found for him.

For the first time since we've been traveling full-time in an RV, we're voting in person. One of the questions that comes up is how do we handle all these "normal things" like voting or vehicle registration or doctor's appointments. For voting, if we're not in town, we mail in our ballots. For vehicle registration, it depends - we've driven to renew them and we've also had our renewals mailed. We're actually able to renew our truck tags after voting today. For doctors, we do have to be in town. There was one time where I had to have follow-up appointments after we left the area, so I had to fly back and get a hotel. But the benefit there was extra Disney time. For these things, it just takes planning. What questions do you have about the logistics of traveling full-time?

There are so many types of virtual admins out there. There are some that work in only one industry. There are some that do social media management. There are some that help plan and manage things, while others are more task-orientated. All have their place and can help you in your business. It's important to know what you need from a VA and what the VA you're talking to can do.

Here's a list of the tasks that I do:
- Bookkeeping
- Managing CRMs
- Moving leads from a spreadsheet tracking system into a CRM
- Drafting and scheduling emails
- Moving subscribers from one email service to another
- Drafting and sending contracts
- Recording manuals/how things are done in the business so things don’t fall through the cracks
- Minor web updates
- Managing memberships – adding/removing members from Facebook groups, prepping graphics and scheduling Zooms/YouTube lives, prepping emails
- Researching grants that fit the client’s profile
- Proofreading
- Managing free Facebook groups – mainly screening new adds and making sure they meet the criteria and aren’t spam accounts.
- Creating advanced spreadsheets for tracking income, expenses and payouts.
