Officer Under The Influence: A Homestead police officer involved in a hit-and-run crash while intoxicated has pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges including reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Henry Quintero, 43, appeared in court on Friday to accept responsibility for the September 2025 crash.

When officers met with Quintero, there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from him, and he had bloodshot eyes, and his speech was slurred, the report said.

As of September, Quintero was relieved of duty without pay. Homestead police say they are conducting their own investigation.

Raúl Castro Indictment: Former Cuban leader Raul Castro has been indicted by the United States for his alleged role in the 1996 downing of two planes operated by the Miami-based exile group Brothers to the Rescue.

The indictment unsealed Wednesday charges Castro and five others - Lorenzo Alberto Perez-Perez, Emilio Jose Palacio Blanco, Jose Fidel Gual Barzaga, Raul Simanca Cardenas, and Luis Raul Gonzalez-Pardo Rodriguez - with multiple charges four counts of murder, two counts of destruction of aircraft, and conspiracy to kill U.S. nationals.

Castro, now 94, was Cuba’s defense minister at the time of the shootdown. The five others charged were pilots allegedly involved in the operation.

What’s Next?

There’s no indication Castro will be taken into U.S. custody anytime soon.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche was asked to what lengths American authorities would go to bring Castro to face charges in the U.S.

“There was a warrant issued for his arrest. So we expect that he will show up here, by his own will or by another way,” he said.

The federal government, he said, indicts people outside the United States “all the time” and uses a variety of methods to bring them to justice.
