Well an update on our progress on the new home and shop. Dec and Jan was unseasonably cold and I was super busy buying antlers so there was not too much progress on the project. Antler buying is slowing up substantially and I am getting ready to make a run out to collect and ship. With more time on my hands and better temps we started working on getting the building wired and insulations done. Big progress.
Another mile stone! We ran 280 ft of wire in conduit to provide a 200 amp service to the building. The future home of Chews Alaska is looking brighter!

Windows on order, got the doors and insulation is on the horizon. The wood stove will be running soon so we will have a warm place to work inside.
Shed season is around the corner. Never a dull moment!!

Well I got home and helped bring in another mile stone for Chews Alaska and my home. The guys have been busy putting on the roofing while i was out west. Underlayment over the plywood finished today. Can take some rain now til I get roofing material figured out. Steel roofing and rain collection in my future.

The last big wall went up today. Had to put down for a half a day as the wind was giving us problems. But we got it done in the late afternoon. One end wall left to build and lift and then on to trusses. Wow. It’s huge. Truly exciting to see it coming together. You can never appreciate the height until it is lifted.

Progress at Chews Alaska. Walls are going up. This is the house end. Sooo tall!! Really was exciting to see it go up Finally going to have a place to display some cool things. Thinking I need a grizzly rug now that i have a wall for one. And some cool sheds too!!

Back on track here at the Chews Alaska building site. First truss out the door. Saving big bucks by making them myself. 888 gussets cut yesterday. The new to me loader backhoe combo is coming in handy right off the bat.

The gift wrap is complete. A layer of visqueen. Insulation is next. Hoping to start concrete Monday or Tuesday when the concrete guy is available. Then go gang busters putting up the walls. It’s really feeling like a reality now.

Form install with Easy Forms
Foundation progress. Will be pouring a mono slab concrete floor for both the shop and house. Single story two bedroom.
A 30 by 40 shop.
From July through mid-September, I’ll be focused on a major upgrade to support my businesses—Chews Alaska (moose antler dog chews) and Alaskan Harvester (my craft business). I’m building a new shop and a small house, with top priority going into creating a functional, comfortable workspace where I can run my antler business and spend time working on my crafts. Come along for the ride as I build.
