Clayton Ellington ❤❤ January 3, 1941 - March 3, 2023.

Clayton Lowell Ellington passed peacefully into his next great journey on March 3, 2023, with his wife of 62 years, Joanie Ellington, and all 6 children by his side.

While in Colorado, Clay & Joanie married in 1960 and quickly started their family with four daughters. The Ellington's moved their family to Alaska in 1968 where they completed a family of 8, adding two sons.

Clay & Joanie's partnership in family and business included many ventures from Anchorage to the Kenai Peninsula. Clay's first job when landing in Alaska in 1968 began with with the Insurance Industry. In 1969, Clay & Joanie started Ellington Construction where homes were built in the Mat-Valley, Anchorage, Cooper Landing and into the Kenai Peninsula, Soldotna area until 1978. At that time the couple bought Penns Hardware Store in Soldotna. The store was rebuilt and renamed to Ellington's Hardware where it thrived until they sold the Hardware Store in 1987. In 1988, Commercial Fishing in Cook Inlet and Resurrection Bay was the couple's next exciting adventure. In 1991 Clay & Joanie moved to Homer, Alaska and opened Homer Insurance Center. Due to Clay & Joanie's work ethic & honest business practices Homer Insurance Center grew to the business it is to this day.

Clay had the most outstanding qualities as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to anyone who knew him. He lived his life with so much Honesty & Integrity. His loving nature, huge hugs & famous one liners will be greatly missed by anyone who had the opportunity to know him.

Clay is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joanie Ellington - 6 children - Lisa Jackson, Carey Hart, Stephanie Green, Tracy Drown, Michael Ellington, Nathan Ellington - 33 Grand & Great Grand Children - Sisters, Velda Hadley, Donna Schmidt, Myrna Cowan - Brother, Dave Ellington - Many Cousins, Nieces & Nephews.

A Full Obituary has been issued to the Homer News & the Peninsula Clarion.

A Celebration of life will be held on July 8, 2023 at the Lands End Resort in Homer, Alaska.
