🚶♂️ A new study of nearly 4,000 adults in their 80s found something remarkable: people who walk faster than their peers — known as “super movers” — cut their risk of cognitive decline by about 50%. Walking well takes strength, balance, coordination and healthy muscle, all of which support the brain. Researchers also found that super movers tended to preserve hippocampal volume, a key area for memory. Even some participants with Alzheimer’s‑related brain changes showed no symptoms if they stayed active. Daily movement, good sleep, stress management and staying connected all play a role in long‑term brain health. If you’ve noticed changes in your walking pace, balance or mobility, AFC Urgent Care can help you stay on track.
