How does one hold both joy and sorrow? On one hand my handsome son is battling a stage 4 monster. That same child is fighting just for normal. A day without pain, a day without nausea, a day without some random side effect. It feels like something new and crappy comes each day. On the other hand my Facebook memories show me this sweet little boy playing with a tiny frog up north when he was small and his hair was bigger than he was. I'm working hard to find the joy alongside the pain.

Today were about a month into Dominic's new fight. Today is his 2nd immunotherapy infusion. He has his first one 3 weeks ago. He has also started his oral chemo, which he was not on the oral chemo when he had his 1st infusion, so I'm nervous about how he might feel this week. He feels crappy for a while each day after he takes his chemo pills in the morning and at night.
Sadly Dominic isn't able to work steadily, which he is not at all happy about. Not being able to work means he can't pay for his apartment, and so we moved him back home. It was a busy and emotional weekend.

Hello, Team Dominic

Some of you know already, but some of you do not.

Last Friday, Dominic went to the ER for extreme pain. Turns out he has a large tumor in his back. It is not in the spinal column but to the left of his spine.

Plan right now is port insertion and biopsy tomorrow. Likely plan going forward is immune therapy, which is outpatient in a clinic every 2 weeks.

Dr. Bell is amazing and also honest. Dominic will fight this for the rest of his life. His life expectancy is about 5 years at most with current therapies.

This is scary news, but also our reality. We knew that this tumor had an 80% reoccurrence rate.

Dominic is moving forward and, in my personal opinion, handling it very well.

I love you all, and I'll keep you posted. In all likelihood, there won't be lots and lots of updates as we move through this, but as they come, I'll keep you updated.
