We are honored to announce that Richard McManus is the 2025 recipient of the Ogden R. Lindsley Award, presented by the Standard Celeration Society!
Richard’s pioneering work in behavior analysis has transformed lives for decades. He began his career at The Fernald State School, training direct care staff to shape positive behaviors in blind and blind-deaf individuals with a history of extreme aggression. His innovative approach replaced self-injurious behaviors with exercise and vocational skills, setting the stage for a lifetime of groundbreaking contributions.
From directing an early school for autistic individuals to integrating Precision Teaching into educational and vocational programs, Richard’s impact has been profound. His work has shaped free operant educational and behavior change programs at every level, and his expertise has been sought after by major organizations like NPR, United Airlines, and Reebok.
For over two decades, Richard has led the Fluency Factory, empowering students from preschool to pre-college with individualized learning strategies, addressing challenges like dyslexia and standardized test preparation. His passion for solving reading issues at every level continues to drive meaningful change in education.
