This is a Civil Defense Tropical Storm update for Tuesday 09-09-2025 at 06:03 AM.

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center continues to track Tropical Storm Kiko as it passes Hawaii Island to our North. At this time, there are no expected wind impacts to Hawaii Island. Thunderstorms are possible across the Island today and the High Surf Advisory remains in effect for North and East facing shores of Hawaii Island through this evening.

Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation.

🌪️ As of 5 AM HST, Hurricane Kiko remains a Category 4 storm with max winds near 130 mph. It’s located about 1,005 miles ESE of Hilo, Hawaiʻi, moving WNW at 12 mph. Gradual weakening is expected over the next few days.

👉 Hurricane-force winds extend 25 miles from the center, while tropical-storm-force winds reach up to 80 miles out.

We’ll continue to monitor Kiko closely and keep you updated. Stay prepared. 💨
