Singer, songwriter, and producer Ben Vaughn has joined forces with Americana rockers Deer Tick to announce their new album, Magnetic East: The Deer Tick Sessions, set for release on Friday October 30 via Yep Roc Records.
Magnetic East features songs written by Vaughn with new arrangements by Deer Tick. The band invited Vaughn to their home studio in a Rhode Island mule barn to track the record, and through an unconventional form of collaboration, it was agreed Ben would only sing on the record, and Deer Tick would contribute the rest. “I wanted an opportunity to hear my songs come out of the speakers in a way that didn’t sound like anything I would come up with myself,” says Vaughn.
The first single, "Imitation Wood Grain" is out today, a smooth, folk rock wave of nostalgia that weaves through the memories of a past love.
