Just some random info for my beach babes ⛱️👙🌊
Pool water and ocean water both make your hair feel terrible in different ways, but they're doing completely different things to your strands.
Here's the breakdown:
Chlorine (pool water)
Chlorine is an oxidizing agent. When it penetrates the hair shaft it oxidizes melanin (which is why hair turns lighter or brassy with repeated pool exposure) and it also oxidizes the structural proteins inside the strand, weakening the internal bond structure.
The green tint some swimmers get? Not from the chlorine itself, it's from copper ions in the water that bind to the hair shaft. Chlorine opens the cuticle and makes hair more susceptible to absorbing those metals.
Saltwater (ocean)
Salt is highly dehydrating. 😬 It pulls moisture out through osmosis and roughens the cuticle, which is why you get that dry, tangled, "mermaid hair" feeling at the beach.
❗️The damage is different from chlorine, more about dehydration and mechanical friction than internal bond breakdown.
What actually helps:
🩷 MY BIGGEST TIP = Wet your hair with clean water before you get in. Hair that's already saturated absorbs less of whatever it's submerged in.
Apply a leave-in or light oil before swimming. Creates a barrier between your strand and the water. (Water and oil don’t mix - duh!)
Rinse and wash after swimming, don't let chlorine or salt sit on the strands, drying into the hair. Incorporate a clarifying shampoo to help reset your strands and ensure they are their best. ✌️

Dearest clients…. Just a few notes!
Early/First week of June, my husband and I will be closing on our new home and will be busy with renovations, during that time, I’ll be taking some time off focusing on that.. so please note; any appointment that you have, if you must reschedule will have to be pushed to the end of the month or possibly early July. (Any appointments currently scheduled will not be changed 🙃)
Secondly, as we prepare for July into August, we are entering into the new school year, please be sure to schedule your back to school color/haircut services in advance. I will accommodate everyone the best of my ability, I just ask for some flexibility (and some caffeine surprises 😂) during the back to school rush.
As always, I appreciate you and your dedication to choosing me to be your forever favorite stylist 💕💛
