What's up everyone?

As a Title guy living and working in the High Desert, I'm constantly fascinated by the stories our land tells. The other day while exploring the 395 corridor, I was reflecting on the history of Owens Lake, and it’s a powerful reminder of how much this landscape has changed.

It’s hard to imagine now, but for a long time, Owens Lake was a massive body of water, so large that steamships like the Bessie Bradie used to transport ore across it! Towns like Keeler thrived on its shores as freight hubs for the local mines.

But as we know, starting in 1913, the water from the Owens Valley was diverted to the LA Aqueduct to support the city's growth. By 1926, the lake had completely dried up, reshaping the environment and the local economy forever.

To me, this history isn't just a collection of facts; it’s the land's memory. Understanding these stories—the triumphs, the struggles, and the transformations—is a huge part of what it means to be a custodian of Southern California land. It gives us a deeper respect for the properties we work with every day.

I just reviewed the latest Altos Research report for Hesperia, and I wanted to share a few key data points that could be valuable for you and your clients.

Here's the snapshot:
🔹 Median List Price: Holding steady at $499,999
🔹 Inventory: Around 290 homes on the market
🔹 Market Climate: The index shows a "Slight Seller's Advantage"

My takeaway for you: While the report mentions some "cooling," that Seller's Advantage is the key phrase to focus on. It's a powerful piece of information to share with potential sellers who might be feeling hesitant. This data can help you manage client expectations and reinforce your guidance.
